The brain child of three very important people, Bharatakalapraveena Guru Sri V. S. Koushik, R. Satyanarayana Rao and Sri Tirumale Rangacharya, Karnataka Bharatagama Pratishthana was conceptualised and brought to life in 2010. The inaugural ceremony took place in Yavanika Auditorium on Nrupatunga Road, Bangalore on 25th April, 2010.
The inaugural program was graced by Guru Dr. C. Radhakrishna, Dr. R. Satyanarayana Rao, Sri Tirumale Rangacharya, Sri Ashoka Haranahalli, Sri L. A. Ravi Subramanya, along with the noted gurus and dance practitioners like Dr. Lalitha Srinivasan, Dr. Choodamani Nandagopal, Dr. Mala Shashikanth, Dr. Tulsi Ramchandra, Guru Prof. Shakuntala, Vid. Smt. Vidya Ravishankar, Vid. Smt. Suchitra Alaknanda, Vid. Smt. Priya Anand, Dr. Padmini Shreedhar, and many more.
The inaugural program was continued by the performances of the disciples of all the dance gurus present. The audience experienced compositions like Thodeya Mangalam, Jatigalu and Vinayaka Stuti, Prerani, Trigoni and Kaivara. These rare and unique compositions held the attention of the audience, cementing the aim and fulfilling the main objective of KBP, the propagation of the Classical Dance Heritage of Karnataka.
